I enjoyed his shows. I'm sure he will be missed. Know one really knows what's going on inside a person.

I lost a dear friend recently to suicide & a week later heard of Bourdain's passing also. There were no indications, no signs, nothing that clued me into what my friend was going through internally. Happily married to her hero of a Marine, for the past 18 years. He was the love of her life, beautiful young lady who loved her family & friends authentically. I celebrated her 38th birthday with her just three weeks ago, & I keep recounting all the conversations we had up until the night she took her life. And nothing! No clues, no hints, no awkward silences... she was her happy, sarcastic & nosey self! Asking me about my non existent love life, about my work & about my family back home! It's so devastating to lose someone, but moreso when you wonder if there was something they were trying to communicate, something you didn't pick up on.
I'm a nurse that constantly floats throughout the hospital so I'm honored to be able to work with our veterans on our PTSD & Psych wards, as well as our medical/surgical/telemetry wards. I prided myself in being more in tune with people when I engage with them, to be able to pick up on things they aren't saying, but that their body language, gestures, intonations or facial expressions indicate are things they're suffering from. I have come to realize that none of us can really know what is going on in another soul, no matter how attuned we think we are. Finding one's peace & happiness is an internal process, because my beautiful, gorgeous friend had everything going for her (at least that's how I saw her) & Mr Bourdain was world renowned & successful in his career (at least that was my perception of him) - but all the beauty, money, success & fame that one has can not bring that internal peace & happiness that keeps us fighting to exist.
May peace & comfort be with Mr Bourdain's loved ones as well as upon my friend Brooke's family & friends. MSgt Ken "Airsoldier" Collins-Hardy
