At the most, up to ten players, the HC, the owner, and some staff would have been at the White House. Two immediate questions I had when I heard the news:

1) When the Eagles office provided a list of 81 personnel on the Thursday prior, did they confirm with the players who would be available or plan to attend? Resulting in the team office refining their numbers on that Friday. After all, the anthem rule was announced the week prior giving personnel plenty of time to resolve any personal conflicts before that stated Thurs.

2) How long did the team have it on their schedule and had informed their players to give them opportunity to de-conflict personal schedules for those that wanted to participate?

I'm enjoying this debate by Trump "so called" Patriots that believe it's the duty and obligation of American citizens to accept an invite to the White House. I thought this was a free country and we have the right to choose.

CMSgt (Join to see) - Can you imagine if Trump and WH were smart they hold the event and let the American people decide for themselves? There is no obligation to accept nor not change you mind about an invitation. So how about we stop defending Trump's ego.

LTJG Richard Bruce - Again you're assuming all the players accepted the invite. My gut tells me the front office sent the whole roster of names before asking the players if they were going. A team where not one player had kneeled all season and have given so much back to the community and veteran organizations, I'm not buying it.

Football team Eagles may not have kneeled during the season, but they did show other public signs of protest when the National Anthem was played. Besides the stupidity of timing and location of their protest, these are grown men who should not have misused the resources of the White House to make a political statement then whine about it. I call the football protest stupid because the same issue of their complaints existed during all four years of Pres. Obama's administration. I fail to understand what Pres. Trump has done that is worse than what happened when it OK for sports teams to visit Pres. Obama at the White House?

LTJG Richard Bruce - You mean the raised fist and holding arms with teammates. Now that is offensive to you? Seriously? Trump made this about kneeling and you're making it about doing anything during the national anthem. You know what I find offensive...folks talking in the stadium during the anthem, buying beer and food during the anthem, cameramen walking around filming during the anthem, folks in the concourse who could hear the music but don't shut the hell up, face the right direction, and put hand over their heart. Yeah try again.
The whole point of freedom of protest is the ability to protest anywhere and anytime an individual decides. That's an element of a protest. Just cause it makes you feel uncomfortable doesn't mean it's unpatriotic.
Yeah, the issue was during Obama's 8 years in office and Obama addressed the issue of excessive use of force on unarmed Americans which Conservatives criticized accusing him of reverse racism cause he acknowledged an issue impacting Black, Hispanic, and White Americans. Kaep first knelt while Obama was in office. So spare me the "this is Black NFL players attacking Trump" BS. What did Trump do? He called Black athletes invoking their 1st Amendment rights SOBs, unpatriotic, and need to leave the country. That's not presidential. You can disagree with the message but you can't say they don't have the right to have a message....in fact that's unpatriotic. If you insult my team or a teammate, that player has the right to decide if he/she wants to accept an invite. There is no obligation to accept an invite or not be able to cancel an invitation. Freedom goes two ways. By the way, there were athletes who chose not to go to WH when Obama, Bush, and Clinton were in office; the difference is those presidents didn't make it a big deal cause it wasn't a big deal. So perhaps Trump should grow up, he's the child with the ego. An adult would've embraced whoever had shown up.
