"People should start getting screened for colon cancer at age 45 instead of at 50, the American Cancer Society said Wednesday."
If you have a history of colon cancer in your family, I have been told 40 is when you should start to get screened. I know that I have that to look forward to - my paternal grandmother died of colon cancer 23 years ago. My father had been getting screenings not long after that and three or four years ago - because of screenings - they caught colon cancer in him early enough that it could be removed safely. He told me if my grandma had been getting screened she probably wouldn't have died from it...so if you have a history of it please ensure you get screened and even so if you don't.
