I'd love to be able to compare the 10-year cost of an A-10 from 2020 to 2030 against an F-35 over the same time-frame. This could be an overall (national defense capability & capacity) good thing, but we don't have enough info to really know. We as a nation need to be able to establish air superiority, or we can't do CAS...and the Air Superiority mission isn't a guarantee against our near peers. We pay lip service to IPB or JIPB and "setting the conditions" for ground combat at our own risk.

At least until a suitable replacement is fielded. About a 20 year process from the RFP is issued.
