NASA's Nuclear Thermal Engine Is a Blast From the Cold War Past

If it's ever gonna realistically happen, and I'm talking the Moon first, forget Mars for now, this is the way it's gonna go, no Star Trek fantasies, no Mars flights for a long, long time, built in orbit, with a crew of 50-200, with lunar flights as routine as getting in a 747, with landing craft capable of going back and forth to a full-size mother ship, I'm talking several hundred feet in length minimum, maybe the size of a present-day aircraft carrier, then, and only then, once absolutely perfect, then, maybe, Mars, once the whole thing would be completely safe and routine, absolutely perfected, maybe in about a hundred years or so, given the software and computing requirements, I think that's a fairly realistic and viable goal, anything quicker, at least to me, is purest fantasy....
