This is really disappointing in a number of ways. We and another couple are going to the Hale Koa on Oahu in two weeks. Mel's Dad was at Schofield Barracks on 7 December 1941. His dad passed away years ago and Mel has never been to Oahu. He was really looking forward to seeing the Arizona Memorial as well as visiting Schofield Barracks. As an aside - his father was in the same Platoon as James Jones who wrote "... From Here to Eternity..." and was also a boxer. This video clip from the Movie always made my Dad (and now I) shed a tear:

I would recommend talking to someone at the Memorial (the landslide is still open). Explain, and they may make a special request.
