I was Meg r Navy, I know nothing about ship handling, it's just that I'd read the one who'd been punished recently mentioned on here was, I'd read, crying in court...I'm obv not minimizing the horrendous nature of the whole thing, I've obv got that, I'm only saying I should think, by now, that all of those responsible have been made to feel just about as lousy as human beings can possibly be made to feel about such a catastrophe...as I'd said, that byq no means minimizes what happened, nor should it...I'm only relating what I'd read, from the other threads on Jere about it, and that other recent collision...I'd said in another thread, my next younger brother was USMMA Kings Point, he spent urs in ship building drydocks, as we'll as at sea in Merchant Marine and in USNR onboard naval vessels sevl times for various tours, once a line parted, while henwas Merchant Marine, a block and tackle swung down, hitting another crew member who was ultimately lost, after my brother had to help with the CPR...another friend of mine was Jr damage control on a Perry class fast frigate, he told me stories, as did another friend who was Navy six yr electronics program on multiple ships...suffice to say, I've gotten the very distinct impression that handling ships can obv be extremely dangerous...I've read a good deal about ship handling simulators used to specifically try to help train for collision avoidance...however, as I'd said, beyond that, I've never actually served on a ship, and, as such, clearly know zero beyond what I was told and have read, certainly....

What the heck was the SWC doing? Two LTs in CIC and a JG on the bridge, sounds backwards to me.
