More BS in my opinion. You enlist for four or eight years and the needs of the Navy come first. I was ordered to my first sea duty assignment as a newly trained ENFN (E-3 for you landlubbers), with zero useful skills. 13 years as a CPO, I got my first of two shore duty assignments. Neither was my choice, but according to the needs of the Navy. If we have to kiss the butts of our most junior SMs, they aren’t going to make it in the Fleet, when the going gets rough. Rant over.
