The real victims are the survivors. The family should not be punished for the suicidal Soldier. They have enough punishment as it is

I don’t think there should be a difference in honors. I defer to a commander’s discression and the regulation, but personally I don’t support stigmatizing suicide in comparison to other deaths.

A reading of the comments at the end of the article is a good idea. Please do.
I hate to say it, but I don't - My personal belief is that suicide is for some the cowards way out; in others it is a loss of faith in everyone else. It is a sad situation either way.
For those of you that are going to make a derogatory comment about the coward statement; sit back and take a look, in way too many cases there are choices that are not taken though they are immediately available. Think about the choices that some are afforded that others are not. These are the individuals that are capable of making a rational choice, but do not.
