Thank you SGT John " Mac " McConnell for reminding that on April 22, 1945, a victorious U.S. Army destroyed one of the greatest symbols of Germany’s Nazi regime: a giant marble swastika that overlooked the Zeppelintribüne, Adolf Hitler’s most powerful pulpit, at the heart of the Nazi party rally grounds.
In the early 1980s when I was stationed in Bamberg we visited this Zeppelinfeld stadium in Nurnberg. It was obvious where the swastikas were removed from the stadium as the swastika shapes were still visible. I would have expected the Engineers to sandblast those shapes into eradication.

I've seen this video several times and several things run through my mind - 1) good riddance to the Nazis, 2) this ushers in a new era and 3) as a Combat Engineer, I wish I could have been there!
