Overreach to fire the Col. It wasn't the original oath and was done as a joke for her kid. Reprimand etc would be fitting. Mistake was filming it and letting it get out.

wow yall are talking about a Msgt, and a full bird, LEADERS! Ones who evaluate others, this was not ok! and the concept of "as long as your not caught" (social media) is also not ok. This is the United States Armed Forces, not some ceremony conducted at a company picnic, Im not sure what is worse the act, or those that think it was ok.

MSgt Terry Garnett - there is certainly a hodge podge of events , those that are in accordance with you job are high speed, game stop and storm troopers, bon Jovi -is he even authorized for a swearing in? I stand behind this is a professional act of you giving up that blank check- to include your life for the service of this nation, it should remain professional and serious at all times.

As an Army career counselor I have facilitated more than one extension. I feel this is a cautionary tale regarding careful thought as toward what you post online and to evaluate content from a critical eye. Do I think this should have destroyed these Airmen, no, do I think it was in a small way an breach of professionalism yes. However no more than the storm trooper re-up and the game stop one on the Army side.

The first time I say this story it was on Duffelblog and I was convinced it was satire. To discover it was a real incident, planned, and seriously executed is embarrassing. If you're gonna do something like this, make sure it's a gag joke or that the video never makes the light of day.
