SSG (Join to see) I happily completed the survey. I hope my participation will help establish a plan to keep ANC open.

I saw it and did the survey. Arlington is a sacred place for sure, but it shouldn't be the only cemetary held in such high regard in the continental US. Also, based on the questions: I'd argue another factor to be considered for burial is how your peers in your unit regarded you. You can take part in combat, get medals, etc., but you can still be the type of person that is remembered badly by your peers. At the same time: if you're a WWII, Korea, or Vietnam vet it should really be up to you about whether or not you wish to be buried there. For me my personal goal isn't to be buried somewhere like Arlington, but if I could get planted in the same area as an ancestor who's had a good bit of influence on my choice to enlist that'd be nice.

In completing the survey ... I kept in mind my belief that a Veteran is a Veteran is a Veteran. First come, first serve. When the space runs out, the space runs out. There is no requirement that an "Arlington II" can't be established elsewhere. I don't intend to be buried anywhere ... and my cremains will go to West Point's columbarium so I don't have a personal dog in the hunt here ... but I really don't like seeing distinctions made among veterans as if some are more important veterans than others. All served our country.
