I've come to regard the word "terrorist" as far too general and ambiguous. The reality is that there are ideologies that do not "coexist", never have...never will. Some competing philosophies can find balance within limited law, some require only a "battle" within the mind and heart, and others cannot find a place without violent conflict. When an ideology is based upon a cult of personality, a government, or even a physical location...it can be "defeated" by removal or conquest of the same. However, when those philosophies transcend individual leaders, laws or nations...they exist so long as there is even one person willing to adhere to them.

ISIS is multifaceted. They are a terrorist group, an arm for Allah trying to create a caliphate. They are an organized money laundering organization, drug dealers, organized crime, business people and exporters of Sharia and all that goes with it.

When they attack in the west we typically call it terrorism as it does partly fit that description but they are an insurgency with desires to take and own real estate. They got really close under our last administration to getting there. The last year the received a wake up call. They will be back in another form soon, somewhere.

Until we address and resolve what is being taught to their youth in the mosque's and madrassas we will continue to have to confront this problem.

The irony that ISIS wants to unify all Muslim states but they don't even have one of their own.
