PFC (Join to see) Best gun for home defense is one that the user has practiced with, can use effectively, and is easily accessible.

Definitely do NOT pepper spray the bad guy, and when he's on the ground shoot him in the head.
That is horrible advice, that could get you life in prison, or executed, for murder. (Around 3:30)

MSgt Cayle Harris Roger I'm aware of that wouldn't shoot the man if he was out of the fight that's where you contain him till law enforcement shows up.

MSgt Cayle Harris I agree, here in TN it is life threatening danger, fire until the threat is neutralized. If I fire one shot, miss, and he throws up his arms and says I give up, That is it, no more shots. IF I MACE him, and he falls on the ground, then no shots.as you said "That is horrible advice"

MSgt Cayle Harris - Since we have already established it is bad advice, I am going to address the elephant in the room. He noted that using the shotgun, even aiming left of center he hit the hostage. If you have a gun that fires a round in a straight line, and you mace your wife, You better make damned sure she can't get ahold of that gun. She may not kill you, but she may give you the Lorena Bobbitt.

Cpl Tom Surdi - Your statement "NEVER go for the kill shot unless you absolutely have to," in and of itself is poor advice and a prelude to getting yourself killed.
OTH, IF you had prefaced that statement with the statement you use as a postface, "Once they are incapacitated, or otherwise unable to attack you,..." it would have a different meaning.

And as others have said, use a baseball bat. If I am using a baseball bat, after the initial hit, there will be a follow through and with that I would be going for a home run, not a bunt and a walk. However after that the intruder will be incapacitated or dead, and then I will immobilize them before calling the police.

There are way too many people that call a shot used as an execution a kill shot, that is pure Hollywood gangster BS. Your very first shot should be a 'kill shot' plain and simple, otherwise you should not be using a firearm in self defense.

As for the rest of the advice, it is excellent.

Great share Justin, I'll stick with my hog leg revolver, the 200 grain bullet rips the crap out of what ever gets in the way.

SGT David A. 'Cowboy' Groth, my revolver may not be a 'hog leg,' since it has a 6" barrel as opposed to an 8" barrel; but it works just fine for me. And whether I am using .38 Special or .357 Magnum, both using a 158 grain JSP (saves on reloading cost), whichever is handiest, I am sure that the job will be done.

I use soft lead rounds, they spread out real good when they come in contact with something solid.
