I lived in Colorado when a proposition was put forward to allow citizens to "Read the Law" to qualify for taking the Bar Exam. Naturally, the Bar Association (prodded by law schools) quickly nipped that idea in the bud

I do find that interesting...I've encountered clinical examples of such thought processes, when allied health fields troedmtpmexpand scope of practice...the concept strikes !EMA's rather analogous, you know?
