California sues Trump administration for 'reckless' decision to add census citizenship question

The question is not a new thing it was on the census for a long time. I quite frankly don't give a rat's ass that poor California is afraid of their population being under reported. They want to have sanctuary cities, and welcome illegal immigration with open arms, but they don't want to take a chance of having concerned immigrants costing them Federal money. Can't have it both ways. According to the Census Bureau, this question is not new, it is just re-introduced:
History of place of birth, citizenship, year of entry questions

Citizenship originated with the 1820 Census, place of birth originated with the 1850 Census, and year of entry originated with the 1890 Census. They transferred to the ACS in 2005 when it replaced the decennial census long form.
