Good idea. I was going to ask if it could work as a sling-load beneath a CH-47 but then they showed it being loaded _inside_ one. I especially like the discussion of getting from an LZ or DZ to an objective quickly. I wonder how much noise it makes. I know the armor is probably virtually non-existent, but if it is fast and if those narrow tracks work for cross-country mobility, then I know a vehicle that narrow can probably fit through a lot of places you wouldn't expect a military vehicle to go. The mortar version seems very applicable in particular. I wonder how many infantry could carried in an APC version. Might also provide a way to bring more ammo, water, and special equipment than light infantry would otherwise have available.
On a separate note, anyone who hasn't heard of the mechanized nature of Soviet-era airborne forces of the VDV might find the BMD vehicle interesting.

Ontos, officially the Rifle, Multiple 106mm, Self-propelled, M50, was a U.S. light armored tracked anti-tank vehicle developed in the 1950s, a fast tank killer for airborne forces.
