The only time it would be a necessity to result in such a way is if the hulls life expectancy has exceeded the sea worthiness . That would create the crew's of the other carrier wings and ship's company too ne on extended deployment. Our elected officials in Congress and the Senate, need to get off their ass and approve a significant military spending bill. The shipyards / repairs facility's need to geared up to the task of new construction at any given moment. We're undermanned across the board, so to conticontinually deploy our men/women in this capacity has negative results navy wide. We need to get back up to the we were in the 60"s & 70's both in manning and in vessels to cover all sea ways. I spoke with a former shipmate yesterday and he has a close friend , whose son enlisted with a aviation electricians guarantee. He's onboard his first assigned (Bird Farm), and has been on mess duty for better than 6+ month's. He's gone so far to go up to his ultimate work center, on his off time and asked if he could hang out for experience/ knowledge. This young blue jacket was kicked out off the shop by his potential LCPO (must be one of those 365 initiated) . Outstanding examples of how new sailors are seeing the United States Navy! Just needed to share this with this issue.

It appears that uninformed politicians are trying to save money at the expense of the Navy. I can think of at least 50 programs that could save billions if cut.

Hard to see why this is even in question. Besides HEU is processed near here and we need the good jobs.

Yes, my part of the country is known as "Valley Beautiful". No state income taxes (except for the Hall tax, which should eventually be repealed), Conservatism reigns and this definitely would be classified as fly over country, just the way we like it.
