US Navy canceling program to turn gas-guzzling destroyers into hybrids

I am just a dumb CHENG that spent most of his career in the Engineering Department, on this class of ships... No one asked me, but I could have told them that this was a dumbass idea. Could have saved them $56 million or so.... there is a very simple reason the main propulsion turbines are much bigger than the electric plant turbines.... it's called load, and it takes a lot of power to turn the screw, what with the drag from the water and stuff... but oh well...
