So how do the anti-immigration folks feel about this? It is apparent that I need to clarify for some folks what this means. The President and the Republican congress is trying to end both the Visa lottery and chain migration. She did both. My comment is not so much on fact that she has not done anything merit-based that would justify the type of Visa she got, its more about the fact that she used the same system that her husband, the President is looking to get rid of. There is some question about the status of her initial Visa back in 1996, but that's not apart of this discussion either.

Someone comes here and has a job. Then brings family here and NONE of them are on welfare or other government assistance programs? That is OK with me.

Issue is also if job is legitimate. Some "illegal immigrants" are not poor criminal who crossed a border. Some come on tourist visas then attempt to work at jobs without proper status or paying taxes.

We have people in this country who cannot get better jobs. They need these low skill positions to feed their families. Not everyone is capable of getting an education beyond high school. These people should NOT have to compete with non citizens for jobs. If immigrants come here with skills or money or other non governmental support system that is OK. I am sick of us getting low skilled people flooding in. We should make sure our CITIZENS are taken care of first. Melania made $. She could support relatives. They would not be a burden on the system. People that want to move here already having a skill should definitely be given priority. Our country needs more electricians and plumbers not ditch diggers.

You need to distinguish between legal and illegal immigration. No on here is against legal immigration. You are simply mistaken or don't understand the difference between the two.
If you have some evidence she did something illegal let's see it/hear it. So what, she got a EB1 Visa. They call it an Einstein Visa to make this sound more dubious. There is zero evidence there is anything out of order about her application or acceptance but the show must go on.

The president is looking to end what he calls chain migration. This is where one immigrate, sponsors, the rest of their family, as she has done, for their citizenship. He also wants to end the VISA lottery, which she took part in. There is some irony and hypocrisy about the president wanting to end both of those programs, YET his family has benefited from it. I have not seen anything that she has done that would be considered extraordinary in order to get this type of VISA, have you?

Didn’t realize we had any anti-immigration folks on here. Would those of you that are against immigration speak up? Now, if we are discussing the incursion into our country illegally, or over stay their VISAs (making them also illegal aliens), that’s me. Would it have been more acceptable for her to have won the lottery and from a different country?

MCPO Roger Collins - Maybe we should send everyone that came here under those programs home and make them start over. What do you think? Let's push it back to let's say 1945. Everyone that came to the country after 1945 should have to go back to where they came from and can only come back under the Trump merit-based program.

I suppose if we made our current laws. and regulations retroactive, that might work as long as we stick to illegal aliens. Since our First Lady went through the legal process BISA, LPR them citizenship, it would make no difference to anyone other than those with a problem with the President and his family.
