The best time-tested way to avoid the injustices of our broken prison system is to stay out of trouble, don't break the law, and don't go to prison. Problem solved. If you are stoopid enough to get locked up you deserve what you get, in the minds of many. No sympathy for perps. If the judicial system which sends innocents to prison is at fault up front, need to work on improving that end of things.

Capt Tom Brown, there are injustices done unfortunately. The Innocence Project is a great organization that is working to make changes https://www.innocenceproject.org/
Innocence Project - Help us put an end to wrongful convictions!
The Innocence Project exonerates the wrongly convicted through DNA testing and reforms the criminal justice system to prevent future injustices.

Being distantly related to Danny Trejo through marriage, I did give it a skim read. His thoughts on prison being a deal making system are spot on. He veers into misinformation on the gun control part though.

The same folks decrying the legal system are the very ones celebrating the Special Council indicting Manafort and others on non collusion charges. The legal system now is a tool used against whomever you don't like for whatever reason.
