Believe it or not, but doing digital is a lot easier to trace than the old ink and paper. I know that I always sound like a conspiracy theorist, but if you believe that your digital footprints aren't all over the web, well just be careful. Of course I believe that the NSA, and CIA are able to track and listen to anything they want. You make a call, in the old days it was connected to a relay room filled with stepper switch's, the first number dialed set the first switch, the next the second switch and so one, that's why it took so long to trace, had to work backwards through the switches. Now you dial your digital phone, it goes to a cell tower which then sends it a satellite, then finds the tower which is closest to the phone you called. It's all digital running at close to the speed of light, it only takes a bit of code to look for keywords and flag it, then route it to the service requesting it. But then again I am probably out in left field.
