Freedom of speech is what it is, but I wonder where the line is drawn when it comes to a teacher in a position of authority, doing that this teacher has done. Not just stating his opinion but embarrassing a student in front of class who is wearing military clothing. What purpose or education did that serve? I do not believe in restricting any individuals liberties, but what about those students rights to an education? Surely we should have some parameters, regarding rights of minors being placed in mandatory care of government entities.

Of course he has his freedom of speech. That doesn't mean there won't be any consequences for what he says.
As a representative of the school, and in his case, also the city council; If those groups feel his voiced opinion, poorly reflects on them, they are well within their rights to let him go. It happens all the time.

Did anyone look in the library? If someone wanted to hide from veterans, that's the one place they likely wouldn't be =o)
