Alan Alda (/ˈældə/; born Alphonso Joseph D'Abruzzo; January 28, 1936) is an American actor, director, screenwriter, and author. A seven-time Emmy Award and Golden Globe Award winner, he is widely known for his roles as Captain Hawkeye Pierce in the TV series M*A*S*H (1972–1983), hosting of Scientific American Frontiers, and as Arnold Vinick in The West Wing (2004–2006). He has also appeared in many feature films, most notably in Crimes and Misdemeanors (1989), as pretentious television producer Lester, and The Aviator (2004) as U.S. Senator Owen Brewster, the latter of which saw Alda nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.

Though he served a slight term, Alda was an adamant war protester that chose to make millions acting a character who served and endured a lot in a war torn Korea. I despise those that don't serve, but will take money playing a role of a service member. He began using MASH, the TV Show, as a platform to bash the military's involvement and at times the military as a whole. Not a fan of his kind.

Thanks Maj Marty Hogan for letting us know that January 28 is the anniversary of the birth of American actor, director, screenwriter, and author Alan Alda who was born with the name Alphonso Joseph D'Abruzzo.
Alan Alda is a good actor and a politically liberal individual.
