A rather interesting selection IMV. I had thought that Democrats would put forward someone with an eye on challenging Trump in 2020 but that doesn't appear to be the case. What it looks like to me is that they selected a "safe" responder. If he does well ... good. If he doesn't ... not a big loss. That they turned to the Kennedy political dynasty, no matter how faded and out of date, is something I didn't anticipate.

The playbook is clearly out of new plays. The democrats have to go back to the Kennedy's to find someone less caustic and reviled that their current leaders. They are betting most Americans don't remember Ted and John's scurrilous shenanigans. They have a pretty good chance considering the historical ignorance of many these days.
