Capt. Leonard LeSchack

I seldom post stuff but would like to share a loss of a hero. There are the "official" articles but I'll add a couple personal items. Lenny lived about 5 miles away. He was a fixture at every Veterans/Memorial Day parade and services. He'd always wear dress whites with a red poppy clipped to his cover. We had what was called the 505 Club. A few of us would meet up at 1705 hours at the American Legion "Jacks Club" on Thursdays. Lenny would only drink Dos Equis Amber and insisted it be delivered with the cap on. He'd use his 50 Cal bottle opener. We talked about a number of topics, but frequently would gravitate back to Antarctica, where we both spent time at 20 years apart.

Lenny was sharp to the end and I'll miss our times together. So if you have a moment, Google "Project Coldfeet". He was awarded a LOM which made an interesting sight on a junior LT who couldn't talk about it. Interesting times.
