I'll always recall one of my German instructors at DLI telling us how, as a child during WWII, they'd all go out after a bombing run and collect the long aluminum strips dropped as chaff. They used it as tinsel for the Christmas trees.

Very Interesting history. One of my best friends parents had been ardent NAZIs. My friends father was a Brown Shirt who helped the NAZI fight the Communist before Hitler came to power. During the war my friends Dad fought in Russia.
