I wonder how it is going to play out the longer the fighting goes and with the cash Iran had having been spent... costly war.. and no way to hold what you capture except by forcing the Sunni populations to flee Syria..

Actually they kind of are not killing IS. They are facing AQ aligned forces as well as non-jihadi forces... some aligned with us and our allies .. and then there is the factor of the forced migration of a large part of the population to depart Syria. Iran and Russia have their hands full with AQ backed forces - around 20,000 or so... heavily armed - and not going anywhere.
