Kimber is a New York company in Yonkers. Given New York State's hostility to guns, its highly restrictive gun laws and the way its bureaucracy pummels legal gun owners there, I'm not surprised to see Kimber move its plant to a gun-friendly state. If I remember correctly, Remington Arms also moved its manufacturing plant out of New York State (to Tennessee), and Beretta USA relocated its plant out of Maryland, another anti-gun state. I wish Kimber luck.

MSgt Gerald Orvis, they (Beretta) had both the Maryland and Alabama plants open at the same time. Accokeek was just up the road from Indian Head NOS and I always wanted to stop in for a visit. Free samples maybe! LOL
I thought they moved the Maryland plant to Tennessee though.

Agreed. The increasingly hostile New York State government has been advertising for new business for about four years, while the state continues to poison their existing businesses. It all adds up to businesses seeking new environments and moving investments elsewhere.

COL Mikel J. Burroughs More employment for the Tennessee Valley. If anyone is looking for work, we are also getting the new Mazda/Toyota manufacturing plant and a Cyber company. Lots of opportunity here!

COL Mikel J. Burroughs - So this story is still emerging. It appears that there will be 4000 jobs directly in the factory, and countless service industry and support jobs associated. The average salary from the plant is estimated at $50,000.00 per year. The plant is expected to begin operation in 2021 and be in full operation within a year, producing ~300,00 vehicles a year. I will share info with you as it becomes available. There is already talk of jobs training. Hiring will likely be through a third party just like the Toyota Engine plant already here in Huntsville. They hire Temps and if they work out, it becomes permanent. However there will, by necessity, be an initial large scale hiring process. These company's aggressively drug test, have many employee functions, and are truly great places to work.
