When...will...it...stop? Anything, and I mean anything, can be done to an unhealthy extreme. From the article: "The WHO defines the disorder as a "persistent or recurrent" behavior pattern of "sufficient severity to result in significant impairment in personal, family, social, educational, occupational or other important areas of functioning." Hmm, what else can do that? Let's see, drugs and alcohol are obvious. So is eating. But what about Facebook, watching TV, reading, exercising, showering, cleaning the house, shopping, working, gambling, etc. The list could go on forever. But these aren't mental disorders. Addictions? Sure. The difference is this. A close friend of mine suffers from OCD and anxiety. Take him and put him on a deserted island and that disorder will never go away. Take someone addicted to drugs/alcohol/video games/etc. and put them on that same island and after some withdrawals, they will be A-Okay.

I can't stand the "addiction is a disease" argument. It just allows addicts to be victims and never take responsibility. Some do. Some get sober without rehab. Some with it. But then there ones who just don't care and would rather be high all day and mooch off their loved ones or the government than to do something with their lives. I used to believe in that it's a disease crap. I got off that bandwagon in the last couple years.
I don't think any of this falls under the ADA so no one should be getting disability from gaming. I hope it doesn't happen. It probably will though.

I feel like everything is turning into a "mental health" issue or illness. I think it states excessive gaming could become an issue not that everyone who plays video games has a mental health issue.

I know of some people who would see this and try to use it as a crutch. And then claim disability, so they can continue to stay home and game. This is just opening another door for people to be lazy and not take responsibility for anything.

This is just WHO - this is not under ADA. I hope it never is under the ADA. It's bad enough people with legit disabilities can't get on disability pay.

SFC Kelly Fuerhoff - But you do understand what I'm trying to say though? If this actually doesn't open the door for some lazy bum to collect, I'm sure someone will try to make an opening somewhere.

Hopefully ADA doesn't ever recognize it because then yes some lazy ass will get free money.
