Mahmoud Abbas is just doing what his predecessor, Yasser Arafat did, that is, to demand that Israel give concessions to the Palestinians, surrender more territory, and yield to the Oslo Accords by allowing a two-state solution with East Jerusalem as the Palestinian capital, for some nebulous concept of peace. Netanyahu has said there can be none of this, since, it would seriously compromise Israeli security, which is already tenuous, with the constant launching of Katysha rockets and Scud missiles at it border cities, and the incursions by terrorists, usually in underground tunnels, into Israel to attack civilians. It's way past time to cut off the US's funding of the PA.

We should continue down the path of making the Palestinians increasingly irrelevant politically. It is the best hope for peace as their leadership is not interested in a peaceful solution, they will never abandon terrorism and will never abandon their goal of all out war against Israel.

There will never be peace as long as they hate Israel more than they love their children...

There is absolutely no room or place for any sort of compromise between the Israelis and Palestinians. imho. Each side is fighting for its existence over a common piece of ground with religious history and there is no sharing in the final solution. Let US just hope the killing can be contained to the immediate area and not spread elsewhere.
