When I first arrived in Vietnam in early 1967 I was issued an M-16, shortly thereafter I was required to turn in my M-16 and issued an M-14, shortly thereafter I was required to turn that in and was issued an M2 Carbine (which I liked better than the M-14 or the M-16) because it was light weight (compared to the M-14), easy to use and not subject to jamming as the original M-16s were). When I went up to Dong Ha on the DMZ, shortly before TET 1968, I had to turn in my M2 and was issued an M79 Grenade Launcher, which I kind of liked.

Not much of a cartridge but it's a cool weapon. I guess as a replacement for the .45 it made sense.

I had the one with the folding stock. Fit very nicely in your lap when riding.
