I'm a Christian and I resist: Roy Moore and his ilk don't speak for all of us
Despite what you might think you know about Christians, our long tradition of resistance is making a big comeback

So tired of all of the political hacking. This is more political garbage, like those at any of the media outlets behave better, or hold higher moral ground. I wonder if anyone on RP, or anywhere else for that matter, has anything from their past over the last 30-years that they would prefer not to have published that might be cause for embarrassment to them, their family and friends. A stupid decision, or action that might disqualify them from a Federal job, or a position in the military. In a country where people are elected because they are popular (read, they said they would do and give me what I want) all you need is an allegation and the media to have a bent to publish and sustain it.
I don't know enough to know if I would vote for Roy Moore...never met the man, don't know him now and didn't know him 30-years ago either. But the only shame Christians would need to carry in all of this is to gloat at the crushing of another human being publicly disgraced. I can only hope that it might happen to them, so that they would have a little empathy and realize this is a person this is happening to. Many opposed to Roy Moore would cite his politics and say he is part of the unfeeling, capitalist political party that lacks empathy...who is the hypocrite. And be assured America, you think you will get better candidates with higher moral character with all of this political grenade throwing, on both sides...all you will get are better liars. No great man, or woman wants to work for you any more...THAT'S WHY YOU GET WHAT YOU GET! On both sides of the aisle, if they come in good the system that has been created corrupts them. You're just going to get better and more careful liars, and you get pretty good ones already.
Good on'ya mates, celebrate his defeat...for my part I hope he has learned from any mistakes he might have made and goes on to do good. I hope the woman that brought 30-year old allegations can get on with her life...30-years is a long time to carry someone else's burden.

PO3 Donald Murphy - I agree with much of what you say. I have spent plenty of time in DC; they are all the same. They put on a public show and vote the way they need to in order to keep their constituencies intact; but at the end of the day most of them are friends and go out to dinner and drinking together. It is a major reason they hate Donald Trump, on both sides of the aisle. To their way of thinking he is a contributor, not a player and he is usurping their role. He is the guy that is their friend when he wants something, or they want something and can negotiate to get what they want. But he is not one of "them". So do I like everything about him, not really...in fact I wish they'd take his twitter account away. At the same time I love that he is messing their little game up and hope he actually, by accident, or on purpose, wrecks their games and they go back to serving. Likely not going to happen, because then they would have to tell the American people stuff that they don't want to hear.
Like no more freebies; you want something get off your butt and work for it. If you build your house in a flood zone, that was a stupid choice, but it was yours to make and yours to fix. If you insurance company goes broke, too bad...they sell all their assets, make good what they can, and you're on your own. Oh your levies broke, well that's what happens when you build your house below sea level; on you for not realizing that was stupid...rebuild on higher ground next time. Hey your farm doesn't make enough money, quit farming and do something else...the price of food would go up and the remaining farmers will make a decent living. Ad infinitem.... But these things make people "feel" bad, it's so mean and heartless. Nope, just sustainable.

SFC Thomas Butler - OK well I will grant you that I haven't followed this guy close enough to have heard him declaring himself as the second coming. But that's also not what I heard people complaining about. What I heard was, and since you are closer you may know better than I, he was a woman brought forth an accusation of sexual harassment 30 years ago. I know there may have been other things, but that is what I heard over and over in the media and that is what this author said Christians should be ashamed of. As I said I do not know him well enough personally to know if that was something he did out of stupidity and he hasn't since; but I certainly believe if they had anything more recent it would have come out given the current hype and the level of coverage. If there was something more recent I missed it and willing to stand corrected. If there is not I would call one failure 30-years ago better than most...maybe not you, but definitely a turn for the better; I can accept a guy that made a mistake and turned it around. I hope we all get that kind of break.

Sgt Martin Querin - He is a businessman. So right away, he is poised - more so than anyone - to "get things done in DC." But sadly, his downfall is that he's not "one of them." He's not a politician. Not one of the clique. I think thats been his GOP issue.

Sgt Martin Querin - I guess I still expect a bit better from politicians. I guess it is a character flaw of mine.
