With the various shapes of unit patches, doesn't that cause issues when changing units? Seems like it would cut the serviceability of the jacket down tremendously when you swap patches out.

Chevrons are a big deal because "most" of them are larger than the previous rank so they would cover up any discoloration.

Most of us don’t change units that often. I’ve been in eight years and I’ve only worn three different patches.
