In the case of Utah, the state wanted control of the land back from the feds. The feds were the largest landowner on the state, why? The states run parks and other wildlife areas in almost every state, why not Utah. Why does the federal government need to control that much land in a state?
If someone can point to an actual issue with the land being misused etc. then maybe there is an argument. You would have to believe that the elected officials want the land back so they can destroy it for this to be an issue.

MAJ James Woods - There aren't really any residents in escalante, not sure about bears ears. This is the part of Utah that has a sign, next gas services 200 miles.

MAJ James Woods - The local residents were up in arms over the whole thing, there were newspaper articles calling for assassination attempts of President Clinton at the time. Fond memories of my childhood.

MAJ (Join to see) - Makes you wonder about all the people at Trump's rally in Utah when he made the announcement. Perhaps those people aren't local residents who are indeed clueless as to what Trump has done with lifting the protected status of public lands that the public had full access and now will watch it sold to the highest bidder.

SPC Martin Wiesiolek - Massive differences, National Parks are protected, monuments are significantly limited, but neither will allow industry, only agriculture. Hate to inform you but Utahns have always cared about lands in Utah.
