Thanks for this excellent post on world war II history.
A great read on the Hurtgen Forest battle. Interesting
information on Maj. Gen. Rudolph Von Gersdorff who
plotted to kill Adolf Hitler but was never arrested by
the Gestapo as many other high command officers were
after the assassination plots failed.

I trained there. Deep woods and steep, high ridges are what is most memorable. SPC Woody Bullard

SGT (Join to see) - Dave, did you train at Grafenwoehr while you were
stationed in Germany ? Some of us in the 558th went into the field at Graf with the
Infantry and Armor guys for war training during the winter. We were training in a snow
storm and I thought I would freeze to death or get run over by one of the big battle tanks
rolling by our position. Bad place for a Florida native.

Grafenwoehr was a rough place to train. It got very cold there, and there were only cold showers. Not a fun place to be in Winter, for sure! SPC Woody Bullard
