CPT Jack Durish In general people rising to stand up as a sign of respect. You see it in may instances. When the bride walks in at a wedding. When the Capt enters a work space "Attention on Deck". When Taps is played, when the flag is raised, when the flag is brought down, when toasts are given. When the flag passes in a parade, when a flag draped coffin passes by, when you need to shake a person's hand you stand and shake their hand. When the President enters a room. I could go on and on, but the key word here is RESPECT! It is shown when you stand up! The flag exists to this day because of the multitude of people that fought and died and shed blood to keep it waving. I don;t care if you don't like our president, or the party in power, If a person does not respect the flag for what it stands for, you need to go elsewhere!
