Live the Duffleblog. In today’s vicious environment is a relief to have a chuckle or full blown belly laugh once in a while. :)

Army Procurement R and D must work for the Uniform Manufacturers. The BDU was in from the early 80s until about July, 2004 when they mistakenly chose the ACU. Now we have the OCP which, strangely, forces you to buy new boots and undergarments as well. Planned obsolesence? Piss-poor planning and a waste of billions! What is wrong with the boots and t-shirts/underwear. Coyote Brown is just a couple of hues darker than the tan we have. I am upset..$160 boots? The ACU was the F-35 of Uniforms because it was not as sturdy and now we have to buy all new gear!

LTC (Join to see) Sir, You are looking at this all the wrong way. The ACU life span is only 6 months, so changing it from UCP to OCP really took down the number of faded "cook whites" UCP to a minimal number. Now it is all to easy to notice Soldiers in your rank who refused to get new uniforms. I agree with you on the boots being expensive, but again Soldiers wear their boots far longer than the life span of the boots. Changing the boots will force Soldiers to buy new boots, reducing potential injuries.

Just a little PiiP for the day #MRT

BDU's were great except for the black boot's - heat magnets. Agree on the ACU - take all your uniforms in to have all the seams reinforced only to have your backside blow out - hunk of junk uniform.

SFC Jordan Gaudard - You are right for active Duty. I'm a Citizen soldier so I have 3 pairs from deployments or my own purchases that are still serviceable. Thanks for the context and feedback.

I remember when the joke was that every new CMC got to make at least one uniform change. I'm sure you do as well.
