Here's a question...

If "Submarines can run—but they can't hide—from drones", then why do drones have to "hunt" for submarines in the first place?

'Cause, you know...that's what these drones will be designed to do, right? Hunt submarines?

In the end, drones will be simply another tool in the box, to be used in their own special niche of ASW operations.

Oh...and a whole host of OTHER drone operations, as well.

Because the corollary to drones as ASW platforms is drones for use in a whole host of OTHER submarine operations...such as mine laying, enemy ship tracking, attacking enemy ships, and even deploying nuclear weapons in various types of operations. Imagine deploying a pop-up nuke by drone into the harbor of an enemy?

The rub with these is range and stay time. They have to get refueled/recharged eventually. They lose their stealth at that point and they and their supply/control vessels then become targets.
