Great article.

However, I take the position that all the word lists in the world are great if you know how to properly use the words and phrases on the list.

If you don’t then you simply sound and look like a jackass.

Furthermore, I believe that intelligence isn’t the words you speak. It’s the ideas and concepts that you articulate.

Yup. Lists like this only help piece together the overall story you're telling in your resume.

I’ve interviewed a few folks in my time. It never ceases to amaze me that folks get these lists and memorize them like a vocabulary lists for the SAT exam. Even when they use the words or phrases properly anyone paying attention can see that the words and phrases are not germane to the speaker.

In an interview, you can use all the fancy words in the world to try to impress folks. But, there’s no significant way to alter the neurolinguistic signs that you present.

Capt Brandon Charters Very good read! I also notice veterans using words that were common in the military but not so much in the civilian word... two words come to my mind; vice and vital. We used those words every day in the military but in the civilian world we get the "deer in the headlights" look. Language and wording is (vital) important!
