Dr. Martin Luther, in finding justification by faith in God when studying Paul's Epistle to the Romans, went on to publish the magnificent grace of God by both printed word and in sermons. Dr. Luther went on to know that Scripture must be the sole basis of this faith in/of/by God, branding 'Sola Scriptura!' The Catholic Church taught that justification was a long process of the believer where by works more grace came; furthermore, Catholic dogma held to Scripture as a source to learn of faith but Church tradition was an equal pillar. Dr. Luther wished to remain in the Church and to work out differences by reasoned debate. The Roman Catholic Church forced the issue and Martin Luther refused to recant. We now have 500 years, half a millennium, of Reformation in the Church and have exposed the need for continual reformation within God's Church as the Spirit wills.
