I would make one observation here - nowhere in the article does it quote Wendell (the father) saying he "would rather have a dead son than a gay son." That quote comes from Sonja Jones, Giovanni Wendell's (the son) former foster mother. Her statement was ""He hated the fact that his son was gay," Jones said. "I'm sure that inside of his mind, he would rather have a dead son than a gay son."

Now ... that may or may not be the case but regardless, he didn't say what the title of the article suggests he said.

So sad.. it does happen. My father in law no longer speaks to his son. We were married three years ago.. and they continue to drift further apart. My father in law tends to hide behind catholic beliefs for not accepting his son, yet as a catholic he has been divorced and he forced his son to accept a new wife and family...a lot of the pot calling the kettle black. How do we move forward? We understand that we are not all the the same but all people deserve respect.

I am saddened by the needless loss of life. We might not all agree on some of the issue from time to time. But I would not kill you over the way you are. God bless the family that lost this young life.
