Seems odd, that every time I tried to purchase a weapon while stationed in VA . . . I got "FLAGGED". I "popped" HOT because of my TS Security Clearance. Sometimes it took 2-3 days to "clear" me for the purchase. We can "track" my TS Security clearance, but we can't track a Dishonorably Discharged Airmen with multiple Felony Family Assault charges?!?! Something is rotten in Denmark!!!

@PO1 William "Chip" Nagel this is going to bite taxpayers right in the law suit.

PO3 Steven Sherrill - I may have heard from a little bird in the Sec Def's legal counsel office. They are bracing for the lawsuits now. They know the Air Force screwed up, now it's just about limiting the damages as much a possible.
The system did fail, that's not to say that the shooter couldn't have gotten a firearm without the system failing, but the failure of the system sure made it easy for him.

SSG Tom Pike - you nailed it. I would have preferred he had used the first shot on himself. I have mixed feelings on his acquisition of weapons. On the one hand, it demonstrates that it is not more laws, but keeping up with the current laws that would have made his actions more difficult. On the other hand had he used illegal weapons, then it would just go to the point that wicked people with bad intentions are not going to follow the law anyway. Then while typing that, I have the thought that while legally purchased, they were illegal guns anyway as the purchaser lied on federal forms to avoid having the sale blocked.

PO3 Steven Sherrill - Which shows you that making more laws doesn't stop crime. If more laws was the solution then making murder illegal would be enough.

SSG Tom Pike - Stop making sense! It scares the politicians. Long and short is that no matter how hard they try, morality and respect for fellow man cannot be legislated.
