Honestly, I do think that the Las Vegas shooting was an act of terrorism, and would have been labeled as such if it targeted anything other than likely conservatives, or at the very least it would have been labeled a hate crime if it had been in a gay night club or targeted a rap concert , although...I suspect that if his home had not been broken into and that hard drive in his laptop had not been lost that we would be having some other interesting discussions right now in regards to that shooting being or not being a terroristic act, but doomit don't we all hate it when our bleeping hard drives falling out of laptops like that I mean doomit it I hate it when that happens to me, i mean damn this morning I got a half mile run in chasing down my desktops hard drive when it decided to run up the block.

But now that that is out of my system, unfortunately the media (which by and large is left leaning so you would figure they would be all over controlling the language that the media uses) has different standards for how they label things then organisations such as the FBI and the crux of the terrorism definition (which so it is said is a very poorly defined word) is that it is an act of violence committed with a political or social goal in mind, which if you look at this definition and stretch it just a little we might be able to include drug dealers into the label of terrorism.

But...let us pretend for a moment that some people just want to kill, and if we take another step down this intellectual exercise if we wanted to paint a picture of how they go about committing their murder we would ask question about who and what they are, what influences they have in their life and what tools they have available and after we get all of that sorted it kinda paints some context in why we can look at a headline of a story and then glance to the face briefly and then be able to intuit the rest of the story with a fair degree of accuracy. but also keep in mind that today one of the biggest selling things in media is not sensationalism but confirmation bias, so we need to keep alert for the details that get glossed over.
