The old trick of liars discreditinting anyone who can call out their lies. First is was regular media sites and then it was any fact checking site that can call out their BS. Once they have established in their supporters minds that all other sources giving out contrary information are not to be trusted they can then tell their audiences anything they want. At that point their is no contrary information their supporters will trust because have been led to believe they all all biased so they choose sources that are telling them what they want to hear.
