#4 is key. There is a reason Glock has about 70% of the law enforcement market (and has for years). It may not be the prettiest pistol on the shelf, but it's pretty much bulletproof (pun intended). I'll agree the Sig is a good weapon and a minority choice in law enforcement, but it is more expensive and likes to be clean and well lubricated (I've seen hundreds of rounds go through a Glock 23 over the course of a year without it being cleaned). My old department had Glock range guns with over 10,000 rounds through them and the only thing that ever needed replaced was the occasional spring. When the chips are down in a harsh environment, I want the pistol that goes bang every time. Glock has undeniably built that reputation. The rest is purely personal preference.

When I hear about something like this I wonder what senior official is lined up for a post retirement job. Something seems fishy with the selection.
