Leaders lead by example; leaders train, guide, coach and mentor others, regardless of whether they do so in confines or over a MCPO brew in the open. A leader imparts intellect to reward the organization with intelligence. Most welcome the idea of open communication and guidance through discussion; no idea is stupid, unless the leader is a donut. Great leaders listen, assess, strategize, integrate and facilitate building on every idea. Great leaders are open and adaptive to all situations. Don't forget PVT Ryan at the bottom of that food chain. Thanks for this share.

MCPO Roger Collins
One of my first middle management courses used Tom Peters book. I stepped it up by sitting in my employees position for a short time to get a feel for what they had to contend with.

Well, when you can convince Army leadership that my Platoon Sergeant/1SG/CSM do not need to be chained to their desks to constantly check their email or be in meetings for half the day, I would gladly be in full support of this. The military has an issue with turning the convenience of technology into an inconvenience by increasing the BS.
