This needs more tags. Definitely something worth rereading every once in a while. SSgt Mark Lines, how would you compare our actions with the flag and national anthem against those in the countries you've visited?
I'd like to get a historian's view on this but I don't know any.

SGT (Join to see) Speaking only on what I have seen in Thailand. Thailand has 2 national anthems, the King's Anthem and the Nation Anthem. The National Anthem is played on TV during what I call "Morning and Evening Colors". That is the only time I have ever heard it. On the other hand, I have heard the King's Anthem before every sporting event, play, movie showing, etc.. One MUST stand up for it. It doesn't matter if you are a foreigner, you will stand up and show respect. If you do not stand up, you are disrespecting the King, and that falls under the heading of NOT GOOD FOR SURVIVAL.
