I think we should discourage the politicization of loss of life. Seems the bigger story is how ISIS is now in Central Africa and attacking American troops considering the former administration labeled them as JV.

CPT T F - while Obama in no longer in charge the previous administration approach to foreign policy in the region has created instability in not only Norther Africa but central Africa as well.
As a result Obama attempted to quietly mitigate the spreading of the ISIS into Central Africa. More than likely this was due to Clinton's ties to the foreign policy. Fallout would have further damaged her record on foreign policy.
A couple of things happened as a result of the chaos that descended on Libya following the attacks in Benghazi in 2012.
2012 - ISIS in Mali
Separatists led by a subset of the ethnic Tuareg seized control of large swaths of northern Mali, thanks in part to a partnership with Islamist extremist groups and an influx of weapons from Libya. As a result U.S. special forces arrived in Niger in January in 2013 on the orders of President Obama to support intelligence collection as well facilitate intelligence sharing with French forces conducting operations in Mali.
The crisis has created a humanitarian disaster and threatens to destabilize the region, with militant groups taking advantage of the chaos to grow their ambitions beyond Mali’s borders -
2015 - Boko Haram renames itself Islamic State's West Africa Province
The Multi National Joint Task Force (MNJTF), which involves troops from the LCBC, notably Cameroon, Chad, Niger, and Nigeria intensified counter terrorism and counterinsurgency operations against ISWAP (the Islamic State’s West African Province). As a result Abu Mohammed a-Adnani, an ISIS spokes person, told foreign fighters wishing to fight for ISIS they need not travel to Syria. They could help build the new caliphate in Nigeria. As well Boko Haram’s swore allegiance to the leadership of Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi back in March 2015.
As such I think its relevant in understanding the previous administrations actions in the region. While you may consider my questions "dumb" many may be interested in understanding why US Special Forces are for one in the region and two why and who is responsible for their deaths. This understanding starts with broad open ended questions.
From the answers of these "dumb" questions it will begin the process of drilling down culminating in some sort of reasonable explanation - US troops where KIA as a result of an ISIS attack. After review, failures in CAS which was provided by French forces resulted in a lapse in proper air support of US troops due to the inability for CAS having authority to engage in direct action - or something along those lines.

1stSgt Nelson Kerr - the reality is Trump's comments have exposed how the approach to Libya contributed to the spread of ISIS.
