I feel that she shouldn't have went with singing the national anthem. There are other ways to pay respects. Think of it from an outsiders view if someone was singing a national anthem in a language you didn't understand it would make you uneasy.

Why did she feel she needed to sing the national anthem on an airplane? Was it crashing?

The video describes the reason as follows:

A deceased Soldier and his best friend were en route to a location in the US aboard a Delta flight and she felt that as a show of respect, she would see if the other passengers would join with her in singing the National Anthem to respect/honor the fallen.
